This amazing submission depicts a monkey who appears to be a chimpanzee in a space-suit. I decided to choose this project because it is not only a great and original idea but the execution is also very well done. As the creator states in the description it is inspired by Albert II the first monkey to go into space. In addition to the monkey the proposal also includes various gadgets: • Space helmet • Sun glasses • A utility-box filled with snacks • A laser gun The figurine itself is highly posable. In order to display the monkey with his helmet you have to modify the head but the overall look of it remains fairly unchanged. The included gadgets make for very nice details which further add to the great look when being displayed in various poses. The use of existing stickers and printed pieces is also exceptional. I especially like the use of the keyboard tile on the monkey’s left arm. While I doubt the monkey would be able to actually use it with his gloves and clumsy fingers it’s still an awesome detail. I highly recommend you check it out for yourselves and make sure to support it.
My second pick for June 2017 is this beautiful MOC of a tugboat. What especially caught my eye about this one is the very nice colour scheme. The black and red hull together with the sand green floor and the tan bridge creates a combination that is very pleasing to the eye. Furthermore, the shaping of the hull of the ship is also very well done. My most favourite details are: • The railing on the side of the boat • The anchor winch system • The propeller • The engine compartment below the smoke stack The model also allows for two ways of being displayed. You can either put the whole ship on the included stand or you can take of the lower part of the hull to make it look as if the boat is partially submerged. I also really like the way the creation is displayed on LEGO Ideas. The head image shows the boat in a sea of transparent blue 1x1 circle plates and you can even spot a fish in the water. Details like that are what make a project great and this one truly deserves to be supported.
