Multiple Neck Accessories
In LDD it is impossible to have multiple accessories on the neck of a single minfigure through simple drag and drop. However this technique can be seen in a number of official Lego Sets (If you would like to make a Bricklist on Brickset of all the sets with it, be my guest). Take this guy from the 2015 Pirates Line:
He has epaulets and a backpack on top of them. Using the method in this tutorial we can get both a backpack and epaulets on a minifigure, however this still will not work on parts such as capes, due to their rigid state.
I.
For this tutorial I'll be using a Soldier from the Pirates theme. As you can see in the Image, I have a full minifigure body, and a 2M axle with a bushing on it. This axle and bushing combo can be used to make precise movements with a number of parts in LDD. In order for this to work the axle must be oriented the same way you wish to move the part, here that's along the Z-Axis (Up). Select both the head and the Bushing with the multiple selection tool, (Head first) and slide the head up, close to the end of the neck.II.
Now place the backpack (Or whichever accessory goes on top) onto the minifigure's neck. It will snap to the normal bottom position. You also might need to move the bushing back to the bottom of the axle.III.
Repeat the axle trick and move the backpack up as far as you can below the head. This frees up the space for our lower accessory, the epaulets.IV.
Now there should be enough room for the epaulets to snap into place. If not, just slide the backpack and head up a little more.V.
There will likely be some leftover space between the lower accessory, and the upper two pieces, so just select the upper two and the bushing, and slide them down. Ta-Da! This minifigure is now wearing 2 neck accessories!Hopefully you found this tutorial useful!
